JERSEY CITY SLAM TO SEND FIRST-EVER REPRESENTATIVE TO 2011 WOMEN OF THE WORLD POETRY SLAM

Winner will compete for top-honors in a match up of the top-ranked female poets in the world.

The top-ranked ladies of the Jersey City Slam scene will compete for the opportunity to represent the venue at the 2011 Women of the World Poetry Slam (WoWPS). The event, presented by Poetry Slam, Incorporated and being held in Columbus, Ohio from M...arch 9th-12th, will bring together the most powerful female voices in the contemporary international spoken word and slam poetry scene in an epic battle of literary weight, performance wit, and the ability to enchant a crowd by any means necessary.

Competing poets at the JC Slam qualifier will (tentatively) include Mia Fiore, Kathy Stout, Jennifer-Leigh Oprihory a.k.a. Phoenix, Aishia Shandrise Martinez, Saraeve Daly, Judy Nunez, and Kate Hess, a group of women whose diversity of thought, culture, and poetic approach are just as captivating as the city they’re vying to represent. Come and witness the wonder as the leading ladies of JC take no prisoners and change the world with words. We can’t wait to see you there.

Guest hosted by the always crude yet charming St. Patrick

Hugh David Bentz

The randomness of nature has left its indelible mark on Hugh David Bentz and his work. Out of the chaos of the natural order, new paradigms of disorder emerge to spark his fearless studies of light, color and composition. The result is pure abstraction. Bold, unapologetic and without borders.
