in a traditional Irish Catholic household, and was always impressed by the strength
of character and conviction that her parents displayed. Their beliefs were exhibited
in the expressions they used to keep life in perspective, to remind them of what was
important, and to laugh at foolishness so as not to take life too seriously

OUTREACH for Oldest Families in Hudson County The year 2010 marks the
350th Anniversary of Bergen – the area that became Hudson County.
The New Jersey Room and the Hudson County History Advocates are searching
for the families living the longest in each of the Hudson County communities.
These families will be recognized at the October 9th “Come Home to History” Fair
at Hudson County Community College. The family in each community with the
oldest roots will be singled out and specially honored. / If you need help in
determining if your FAMILY or one you know is among the longest living here,
please contact the New Jersey Room. / APPLICATION available throughout
library system, and in certain city agencies.
