WEDNESDAYS
GROUP ACUPUNCTURE with JOSEPH TONZOLA L.Ac.
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
What is Group Acupuncture?
Group acupuncture is acupuncture done in a group setting of about 6-8 people. Acupuncture
done in this manner has many benefits for the patient and the community at large.
Here is a list of a few benefits made available through group acupuncture.
1. Makes acupuncture more affordable and accessible for the community
2. Allows the healing process be a collective one to help with increasing the wellness
effects
3. Brings people of the community together with a common interest of acupuncture
How is group acupuncture done?
With group acupuncture the patient is usually either seated on a folding chair or resting on their yoga mat. The areas needled are typically around the wrists and ankles, the ears, and the scalp. The patient does not need to remove any clothing, but is asked to wear clothing that allows the licensed acupuncturist access to these regions.

What is helpful for?
Group acupuncture can help with treating many different ailments very similar to the way a
private treatment would work. If the acupuncturist feels that a private treatment might serve a
patient’s needs better, then this recommendation will be suggested. Here is a list of positive
effects that group acupuncture can help a patient experience.
1. Relaxation through decreasing stress/anxiety and body’s response to stress
2. Improvement in Sleep and Mental Clarity
3. Decrease Cravings associated with eating and smoking
4. Reduce acute or chronic Body Pain
5. Relieve discomfort associated with menstrual irregularities
Confidentiality?

Patients are asked when they first begin treatment to honor the space where the group
acupuncture is occurring with confidentiality. Initial consults will take place behind a curtain to make each patient feel more comfortable with sharing personal issues. The patient, however, must understand that because of group setting, complete privacy is not possible. Patients usually find that sharing the experience of acupuncture treatment with a small group of people adds to their own personal healing experience.

Who is Joseph Tonzola L.Ac?
Joseph Tonzola is a licensed acupuncturist in both NJ and NY. He has been involved in
patient care for 10 years, 5 of which include professional experience as an acupuncturist.
Joseph currently works an acupuncturist for the Integrative Medicine Department at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. He enjoys working in a group setting with acupuncture for the many benefits made available through this approach. Joseph is a new resident of Jersey City and is excited to integrate himself as an integrative health care provider within the Jersey City community.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling Joseph Tonzola
L.Ac., at 732-232-1679. Walk-ins are always welcome.
